There is no place that can bring more joy or more pain than our family. The simple affection and intimacy shared between family members is one of the purest joys of this world. However the pain of separation, mistrust, misunderstanding and mistreatment can wound us seemingly beyond repair. Our families are our foundation in life. They greatly shape who we are.

The emphasis in our family ministry in the AV church is connection. When family members are connected to God and each other there is peace, joy, nurturing and direction. The pain begins when the connections become strained or broken. This is an all too familiar pattern repeated from generation to generation. Anger, alcohol, drugs, fear, selfishness and pride have destroyed far too many families.

But where there is pain God can become a healer. Where there is disconnection God can make the connection. Where there is a mess God can clean it up. Where our families need help God can become a helper. Whether he becomes these positives in our families or not is up to us. Our choices determine the outcome.
